We Empower Women & girls

Soroptimist International of Upper Montgomery County Maryland (SIUMC) is the local chapter of Soroptimist International of the Americas Inc., an international volunteer organization for women whose mission is to improve the lives of women and girls, through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.

We partner with the City of Gaithersburg, educators and other organizations to fulfill our mission and continue our local service projects:

SIUMC Recognized with Outstanding Organization Award

On April 18, 2024, the City of Gaithersburg recognized our club with the Outstanding Organization Award.

Since its inception in 1964, the organization has been a steadfast pillar of support and service in the Gaithersburg community ensuring women and girls have the resources and opportunity to reach their full potential and live their dreams.

Monthly service projects

November

We will begin providing meals to Rainbow Place this month. We will be doing meals once a month through March. We will be supporting the Gaithersburg Thanksgiving distribution this month and gearing up for the Holiday Gift Program.

December

We are adopting two families and doing the 30/30 project, which is buying new things for families leaving a homeless shelter and going into their own home. We hope everyone will participate in this wonderful project! We are also doing another Story and Art project at Seneca Heights Apartments and need volunteers.

January

We will be holding our second Dream It Be It Program of the year this month. This one is at Quince Orchard High School. Our Gaithersburg High School program in November was very successful!
